i'm reading a book called 'the speed of trust'. it's likely to become "that book" that everyone ends up reading over the next 10-20 years, like what '7 habits of highly effective people' was during the 1990's and 2000's. partly because it is written by the son of the previous author, and partly because it's an incredibly timely (and transcendent) topic.
here's what stands out so far:
*trust makes or breaks everything. . . our job, our relationships with others, our ability to like ourselves, our ability to live with hope for a better future.
*when you have trust in someone, you have confidence in them.
when you do not have trust in someone, you are suspicious of them.
*when trust is high, the speed at which every part of life moves is much faster/smoother. when trust is low, every part of life is affected and the cumulative effect is that things move very slowly from a to b, from concept to completion, from acquaintance to relationship.
*when trust is low, we spend far more effort, time and money to solve problems.
when trust is high, we spend far less effort, time and money to solve problems.
