elizabeth gilbert - eat, love, pray

WARNING: the talk below includes one very dangerous lie. this blog nor it's author agree with the conclusion that this talk comes to (but has great respect for the God-given right of every man and woman to explore inspiration and freely express their thoughts). normally i try to be very inclusive with any comments regarding matters of spirituality, but in this case, i need to clarify the contradiction below as glaring: elizabeth gilbert is claiming the source of inspiration as a false god, allah, who would subject millions of women around the world to abject poverty, patriarchal property, and in some cases forced silence--basically the complete opposite of freedom of creative expression.

i saw this talk by the author of 'eat, love, pray' and loved her insight. her words about the process of creativity are wonderful and helpful. and though i agree with her whole heartedly that the source of all good inspiration is the Spirit of God, the name she attaches to the Spirit is miscommunicated at best and has the potential to mislead many to attribute inspiration to a source that will ultimately steal the very freedom of thought intended to be shared. true spirituality is a tricky thing and must be closely combed for it's veracity (which i'll talk more about later this week...)
