"if you want to know that you'll be alive after you die, the surest sign is that you come alive before you die."
"it takes more faith to believe that nothing created an intelligent universe than it does to believe that our universe was created from intelligence."
i've been thinking about the first quote for sometime now because i've been thinking about what it means to be alive. but the second quote isn't so far off from the first when i consider that they're both talking about how life happens...
let me see if i can connect the dots.
it's interesting that if you are reading this blog right now, you are alive ("thanks for point out the obvious monty, duh!"). what's even more interesting is that all of us are searching, in our own way, for more life. we want a better job, more money, new furniture, our family member to get well, a better car, a few days off, a refreshing nap, a....better life. so there's something to this idea that even though we're currently alive, we feel like there is more life we could be experiencing. intelligently, we recognize that the better life we're longing for doesn't happen accidentally in a vacuum...life happens when we address our needs and create the life we want out of what we already have. in short, we start with what we have, and then realize that there's more life in what we do not yet have. it is because we have life in the first place that we sense there is more life is available.
so here's the connection: life comes from life, we exist because life preceded us, that's just simple intelligence. now the trick is learning how to tap into this truth, to awaken to full life that begins now...and lasts beyond death.
