Lay 'Em Down - Live @ the Crossing (loft)

i'm a fan of a new-ish band called needtobreathe. they've got an entire CD of tunes that are just plain good. a couple weeks ago the Crossing did a tune of theirs called 'lay 'em down' and someone from the seats taped it on their camera phone. alas, these days even church can be broadcast via youtube from the ever-present media presence of a cell phone. hehe

i love the energy of this song because it is the invitation we all long to hear. come, lay your burdens down and rest. stop faking it, stop pretending everything's okay and you've got this life figured out. admit that you're a mess and bring your brokenness into the blessing of grace, full acceptance, unconditional love, seventy-times-seven forgiveness, and peace that transcends understanding. that is what scripture says life is like in the Kingdom of Heaven.

"wherever you are now, whatever evil you've found, bring all of your troubles, and come lay 'em down."

Awesome! I just downloaded this song after seeing it at the Crossing. I saw Bruce's version, and felt so blessed to see him sing it. But now I think Greg was right when he said all the venues had spectacular singers! I wish I could have seen Chris' live too!
