my friend adam just sent me this very cool promo for a new church in chicago (i think), called 'soul-city-church'. it casts great vision about what a church should be about--people. the video talks about the 'process of becoming,' which is something i'm fascinated with. i have lots of theories as to how we grow and change and develop into who we're made to be, but in real time personal transformation is incredibly difficult to see realized. that said, the idea of a church is that it is a weigh-station where you can access who you are now, and find relational and spiritual resources to help you move towards the person you were made to become. which raises a question: is that the way you think of church(es) i.e. a place where you can discover your natural gifts and uncover purpose for your life? if so, how is that happening? if not, what would need to happen at the church you're familiar with for it to become a place of transformation?
