Pomplamoose: Creativity: Love: Relationships: Commitment

if you don't know about this web gem, you're like me! i'm just discovering this tiny band that now has multi-million hits on youtube, covering popular songs by recording every sound they make from their home and showing each sound visually. the idea is that you can see everything you hear so that there is no sound they make which you cannot understand how they're creating it. and yet, even when the curtain of the creative process is lifted, the magic isn't diminished in the slightest.

i've heard it said that music has a magical quality that opens people to understanding in a way that bypasses intellect and gets straight to the heart--called the throne of the emotions--awakening us to the spiritual. i think this is true, and i would go a step further to say that if we keep our intellect attached as we listen, we can even be wholly inspired towards something concealed just beneath the surface of every creative work: Truth.

this is not to say every creative work is in itself true, but that there is a universal law at play operating in all creativity: anything that has been created points beyond itself to reveal it's creator AND The Creator. "all the single ladies" points to the creative work of Beyonce, and i might add, to the journey she has been on as an independent woman. but, if you listen closely to the lyrics and emotion, you'll hear/see a deeper truth emerging...something like 'relational commitment is essential to love'. God is love, as He says He is, and Love calls us to fidelity. we are made for sacred commitments to one person and to one God, through thick and thin, and when we fail to embrace this we find ourselves alone, as beyonce says "if you like it, you better put a ring on it."

question: will you trust God, or if that's too big a jump for you at this point, will you trust the universal law and commit (and re-commit again and again) to your love relationship?

Don’t treat me to the things of this world
I’m not that kind of girl
Your love is what I prefer, what I deserve
Is a man that makes me, then takes me
And delivers me to a destiny, to infinity and beyond
Pull me into your arms
Say I’m the one you WANT
If you don’t, you’ll be alone
And like a ghost I’ll be gone
