Good Friday

we're getting nearer to Good Friday, the ironically named day when Jesus was crucified for everyone in our sins. listening to this song a friend passed on i'm learning more and more that God is good...even when seasons of life test the full weight of my faith. "how can God be good if...?" that's the way we begin our most common question when we face unthinkable struggles. as i was listening to this song i was moved by the simplicity and love that washed over me. like a song that says "i will go any distance to be with you", the songwriter sings to God "i'll face whatever pain you want me to as long as i end up seeing you." it's a reluctant song, but one that she clearly has experience in--having lost her sight at the age of 2. can you imagine Jesus being the first person you ever see after being blind all your life? in that moment, i can imagine that walking through the valley's life throws our way will all be worth it. i'm humbled by this song especially because it reminds me Jesus is well acquainted with suffering. He who spoke the words of God, knows what it is like to be betrayed, abandoned, lonely, cursed, emotionally broken and physically wounded. Jesus' life reflects the words of this song, "i will go any distance to be with you." He's the only one who has meant those words and proved His love by doing what they say...walking across the darkest valley of death to overcome our sin and evil. whatever obstacle i face this week, i'm trying to view it in relationship to the story of Good Friday.
